Deidra Hartwell was voted as the Council Chair, Adam Hunsaker as the Council Vice Chair, and
Hannah Smith as secretary. The vote was passed unanimously.
Deidra moved to approve the minutes from last April, and Adam Hunsaker seconded it. The
motion passed unanimously.
Amy discussed LAND training for new council members and the School Community Council
(SCC) rules were looked over for approval. X moved to approve rules and X seconded. The
vote concerning the SCCs rules was passed unanimously.
Amy went over the previously approved budget and TSSA plan for the upcoming year. Steps
taken to ensure improved student academic performance included improving attendance rates,
Using the IReady exam for math, and budgeting for an additional teacher to lower student to
teacher ratios.
The council discussed the end-of-year school book. Council members will first read ‘Peter and
the Star Catcher’ to assess any controversial or sensitive material. If approved, this book will be
provided for all students at the end of the year.
X adjourned the meeting. This passed unanimously.
Next meeting will be held October 2nd 2025.

School Community Council Minutes for 10-02-2025:

September’s minutes were briefly discussed. Deidra moved to pass the minutes and Emily seconded the motion. The vote was passed unanimously.
The school Community Council reviewed the Digital Citizenship school-wide plan. Minor revisions to the plan were discussed, as well as websites that teachers use at Cedar Ridge. An overview of the media program was also discussed. A motion to accept the changes was moved by Adam and Deidra seconded the motion. The vote passed unanimously.
Acadience testing for fall reading was then discussed, as well as goals for the student’s improvement. The SCC discussed different options for different reading groups.
The TSSA and trust lands were reviewed, but ultimately discussions on the subject were paused until audits come back. The SCC were once again invited to join trainings on the subject.
The SCC all reviewed ‘Peter and the Starcatchers’ as the end-of-year book, and unanimously agreed that the book was not on par with standards. Other book readings were assigned, and the Council will reconvene to choose a better book for our students.

Committee reviewed October minutes. Emily moved to pass the minutes and Savannah Seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
Amy discussed and introduced the Trustlands and TSSA document included in the agenda. After review, the council took note of the current budget state.
Committee moved on to discuss the book choice for end-of-year book. We narrowed the options to Tuesdays at the castle, by Jessica Day George or Nim's Island by Wendy Orr. Council will read screen these books to make our final decision.
Allen Grunig took the floor to offer School Board Support. Committee members brought up concerns like budget ideas, support for neighboring schools, and providing crucial supplies for teachers. Allen Grunig expressed the support of the Board and said he would be attending some future meetings to explore how the School Board can better support.

School Community Council Minutes for 1-08-2026:

Deidra Hartwell moved to pass November’s minutes, Reyna seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
The committee discussed the current standing of the budget.
The committee discussed the year end book and decided on the year end book- Tuesday at the Castle by Jessica Day George. They will be ordered for the school.
We discussed the teacher survey as a council. The date for returning the survey was moved back to further in January to give the children time to get back. The committee discussed different options for questions to add to the survey.
The school improvement plan and the TSSA trust plan will now be merged into one. The guidelines and current data were looked over and discussed. Plans to include more diverse stakeholder voices by inviting parents from the new communities coming into the school being invited to become members of the SCC. New goals were also discussed for the upcoming planning:
Math: Discussions on how teachers will meet in teams to coordinate math instruction, as well as goals to get the students to reach benchmarks.
English: End of year data will drive the instruction for next year’s benchmarks. The SCC discussed how to help the children grow most effectively. There was only light discussion over concrete goals with the understanding that much will change over the next few months.
The council will continue to revisit our goals for our students and work to set reasonable goals. Deidra adjourned the meeting.

School Community Council Minutes for 02/05/2026:

Deidra Hartwell moved to pass January’s minutes, Reyna seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
The committee looked over the residual budget, and discussed.
The committee looked over the School Improvement Plan. We looked over Literacy rates and Math comprehension for both Cedar Ridge and Sunrise Elementary as we will be combining schools the following year. New goals will be made from combined statistics from both schools.
The committee also went over new instructional practices that helps comprehension and critical thinking.
The council also discussed new absentee measures that will have to be implemented.
We went over Administration and District Planning for Math, English, Social Emotional Learning, development plans, and Communication and Transparency.
The council went over some possible budget increases for certain departments like substitute teachers and the Library.
The SCC went over the Acadience for the middle of the year scores.
The council went over the Stake Holder Results, which was the survey sent home for the parents to fill out.

Emily Jensen moved to pass February’s minutes, Adam seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
The council reviewed the budget. Currently, the school is within budget and doing well. Looking forward, they are within expectations for current spending.
After several months of hard work, Amy and the council have created a new Administration and District Planning series. This includes Cedar Ridge as well as Sunrise, and goes over acadience scores and emotional well being. This is sent to the CCSD board to review and published for everyone to go over and see. This will create greater transparency for all involved. The council
will approve the planning series, and will be published on the school district’s website.
The council discussed truancy rates. Parents should be aware that next year laws for truancy will be more strict, and may be a misdemeanor.
Adam motioned to approve the school improvement plan, Emily seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
The School Community Council discussed the 2026-2027 LAND trust plan. The funds discussed will not change, and are the same as prior meetings. Interested parents can find the trust plans on the website.
Deidra moved to pass the LAND trust plan, Adam seconded. The vote passed unanimously.

School Community Council Minutes for 05/07/2026:

Deidra moved to pass February’s minutes, Hannah seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
The council reviewed the budget. Currently, the school is still within the budget and we expect to end the year on a positive note.
The council looked over the next year’s TSSA plan. We semi discussed goals for next year, looking forward, with the school merger in mind, we are anticipating using the budget differently. Deidra moved to approve the TSSA plan for 2026-27, Emily seconded. The vote passed unanimously.

New members will be included from the Sunrise DLI school boundaries in an attempt to include the new school, its parents and community. We look forward to welcoming our new council members, and thank those who are leaving for their service to our school, kids and community.
