Principal Joel Winkler
Mr. Winkler has been working in education since 2005 in a variety of positions. Teaching English and social studies was his first passion and he was lucky enough to be able to do that at both the high school and middle school levels before moving into school counseling. As a school counselor Mr. Winkler spent many years at Spring Creek Middle School working with students and families as they navigated the many challenges of those early tween years. For the past several years he has been working as an administrator at South Cache Middle School and can’t wait to get started on his newest adventure as the principal of Cedar Ridge Elementary School and the DLI magnet programs for Portuguese and Chinese immersion. As a lifelong learner, Mr. Winkler is passionate about foreign language study. He speaks Portuguese and has spent time studying other languages for fun as well. Mr. Winkler loves to travel with his wife and most recently returned home from a trip to some of his favorite places in Brazil. They are already planning their next grand adventure--a trip to China with their daughter. As a parent, Mr. Winkler has had the opportunity to support his daughter through a DLI Chinese program and is grateful for the incredible experience it has provided for her as well as the challenges that have come with it along the way. Mr. Winkler and his wife Andrea are the proud parents of three daughters, one son-in-law, and a very spunky dog.
